East Windsor Police Commission

In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes and East Windsor Town Ordinance, the East Windsor Police Commission is the only duly authorized and recognized elected board of officials (Police Commissioners) that oversees and is in charge of the East Windsor, CT Police Department. The East Windsor Police Commission regularly meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM, at the Police Department headquarters located at 25 School Street. You may review Chapter 104 (Municipal Police & Fire Protection) of the Connecticut General Statutes, sections 7-274 (Establishment by Ordinance of Town Police Commissions), 7-276 (Powers of Commissioners), 7-277 (Town to Bear Expenses), and East Windsor Town Ordinance 71-1 (Police Commission Established) for a thorough description of these powers and responsibilities.

The appropriate Board or Commission in Town to contact when you would like to discuss the Police Department with an elected official, is the East Windsor Police Commission. General complaints should first be handled or addressed through the Police Department, you can review their internal affairs policy and/or their civilian complaint form on this webpage. You can always ask to speak to the on-duty supervisor or the Police Administration. The Commission is also the recognized as the Legal Traffic Authority (LTA) in the Town of East Windsor for ALL traffic related complaints, road condition/traffic sign problems, ideas and suggestions, or concerns. Contacting other various boards, officials, or commissions will only delay your contact with us.  We have made this easy for you by adding a Traffic Complaint Form under the Resources Tab of this EWPD website.

The East Windsor Police Commission encourages you to first call the East Windsor Police Department main line (At:860-292-8240) for initial complaints or a prompt police response (Please Call Early and Call Often), or to make first contact with the Police Department administration (See contact information on the webpage) with your concerns or complaints. In the event that you need our assistance or want to speak with us – Please contact us at: ewpolicecommission@gmail.com, or attend a meeting for prompt and immediate service. To simplify contact with the Police Commission we have also added under the same Resource Tab on the main page of the EWPD website, a form called the Police Commission Contact Form. Fill this out and a member of the Commission will review or contact you.
